Why Schools Choose Safety Film

Glass is one of the most vulnerable points of entry in any school or public building. Safety and security window film is one of the most affordable, fastest-to-deploy hardening measures available — no construction, no permits, no disruption to school operations.

Slows Forced Entry

Security film holds shattered glass together, turning a quick smash-and-enter into a 4–8 minute delay. That time is critical for lockdown procedures and law enforcement response.

Protects Against Flying Glass

In the event of an accident, explosion, or severe weather, film prevents dangerous glass shards from becoming projectiles — a critical safety factor in high-occupancy buildings.

No Construction Required

Film installs directly onto existing glass — no replacement, no structural work, no permits. An entire school can be completed with zero disruption to the school day.

Reduces Heat & Glare

Security film also blocks up to 83% of solar heat and 99% of UV rays — improving classroom comfort, reducing AC costs, and protecting students from UV exposure during the school day.

Cost-Effective Hardening

Compared to bullet-resistant glass or full window replacement, safety film delivers significant protection at a fraction of the cost — making it ideal for district-wide rollouts on tight budgets.

Supports Safety Compliance

Many states and districts are now requiring or incentivizing school hardening measures. Safety film is a recognized, documentable upgrade that supports compliance with school safety legislation.

How the Process Works for Districts

I handle district and multi-site projects personally. Here's how we go from first call to completed installation.

1

Free On-Site Assessment & Bid

I'll visit your campus or facility, measure every window, assess glass type, and provide a detailed written bid — broken down by building or zone so it's easy to phase the project if needed. No obligation, no cost.

2

Film Selection & Specification

I'll recommend the right film thickness and specification for your security goals. For most school applications, I recommend a 4-mil to 8-mil safety film — optically clear, virtually invisible, and rated to hold glass together on repeated impact.

3

Scheduled Installation — Zero Disruption

Installation can be scheduled during evenings, weekends, or school breaks to avoid any disruption to classes. I work clean, fast, and leave the facility exactly as I found it.

4

Documentation & Warranty

After completion, I provide full documentation of what was installed, where, and the film specifications — useful for safety audits, insurance, and compliance reporting. All work is backed by a manufacturer's warranty.

Common Questions

Does safety film make glass bulletproof? +

No — safety film is not bulletproof glass and should not be marketed as such. What it does is hold shattered glass together after impact, significantly slowing forced entry and preventing glass shards from becoming projectiles. For ballistic protection, laminated or polycarbonate glazing is required.

Will the film be visible on the windows? +

Most safety films are optically clear and virtually invisible once installed. There is no tint or color change. The glass looks exactly the same — the protection is built into the film's adhesive and polyester layers, not its appearance.

How long does installation take for a large school? +

It depends on the number of windows and glass doors. A typical elementary school can be completed in 2–4 days. I can provide a time estimate as part of the free bid. Installations can be scheduled during off-hours or school breaks to avoid any disruption.

Can this be used on existing double-pane windows? +

Yes. Safety film can be applied to most existing glass types, including single-pane, double-pane (IGU), tempered, and laminated glass. I'll assess your specific glass during the on-site evaluation to confirm compatibility and recommend the right film.

Does Seymour Clearly work with government procurement processes? +

Yes. I can provide formal written bids, itemized quotes, and documentation required for government purchasing processes. If your district or agency requires specific insurance certificates, licensing documentation, or bid formats, just let me know and I'll provide what's needed.

Protect Your School. Start with a Free Assessment.

No obligation. No pressure. I'll come to your facility, assess the glass, and give you a clear picture of what it would cost to harden every entry point with professional safety film.
