ASWF Crystal Guard™
The Crystal Guard safety series provides protection from UV rays. It can also help prevent glass from breaking on impact, holding shattered glass together when breakage occurs. The ideal way to prevent flying shards due to earthquakes, blasts, or hostile intrusions. Crystal Guard upgrades windows and doors to be the first line of defense during and after projectile impact.
About Crystal Guard™
ASWF's manufacturer description — verbatim from their published product literature:
Protection & Deterrence
Crystal Guard aims to be a deterrent preventing or delaying attackers from breaching school premises, buying precious minutes to execute emergency plans and extend law enforcement response time. The ideal way to prevent flying shards due to earthquakes, blasts, or hostile intrusions.
First Line of Defense
Crystal Guard upgrades windows and doors to be the first line of defense during and after projectile impact. In the event of glass breakage, safety films contain potentially hazardous glass fragments reducing potential damage during seismic, windstorm, human or projectile impact and blast events.
GSA Requirement
ASWF films mitigate damage due to failed glass in the event of breakage from accidents, natural disaster or terrorism. Retrofit of fragment retention films is a requirement for government organizations such as the General Services Administration (GSA). The GSA is the single largest tenant of commercial space in the United States.
Crystal Clear Clarity
With up to 89% visible light transmission (4 mil), Crystal Guard is virtually undetectable once installed. It maintains the natural appearance of your windows while providing an invisible shield protecting against UV rays and dangerous shards. Blocks 99% of ultraviolet rays to help reduce fading.

All data manufacturer-reported by ASWF (Safety & Security Window Film Specification, Rev H, August 2020). Solar performance measured on 1/4" clear glass per ASTM E-903. UV rejection: 99% across all thicknesses. SHGC: 0.82 across all clear thicknesses.
Certifications & Testing Standards
Crystal Guard is independently tested and certified to the following standards. Testing per ASTM E-308, ASTM E-903, ASTM D-882, and ASTM D-1044.
ANSI Z97.1 / CPSC 16 CFR 1201
Simulates human impact loads on glazed areas, including glass mirrors, in hazardous locations. Qualifies the 8 mil and 12 mil Crystal Guard films for safety glazing applications. This is the standard required for glass in doors, shower enclosures, and other high-traffic areas.
UL972 — Burglary-Resisting Glazing
Tests resistance to forced entry through glazing materials. The 16 mil Crystal Guard is certified to this standard, meaning it has been independently verified to resist break-through attempts under controlled testing conditions.
ASTM F3561 — Level 2
The forced entry and ballistic resistance standard for glazing systems. Crystal Guard 21 mil and 24 mil are certified to Level 2, the standard increasingly specified for schools, government buildings, and critical infrastructure hardening projects.
GSA P100 Compliance
The General Services Administration requires fragment retention film on all federal buildings. Crystal Guard meets GSA P100 facility standards for blast mitigation glazing retrofit. The GSA is the single largest tenant of commercial space in the United States.

Why Choose Crystal Guard™?
Maximum protection without changing the look of your windows.
Invisible Protection
With up to 89% light transmission, Crystal Guard is virtually undetectable once installed. It's the perfect choice for storefronts, schools, or homes where you want protection without any tint or visual change.
Forced Entry Delay
Crystal Guard aims to be a deterrent preventing or delaying attackers from breaching premises, buying precious minutes to execute emergency plans and extend law enforcement response time. Thicker films (16–24 mil) are independently certified for burglary and forced entry resistance.
Professional Installation with DC795
As an authorized ASWF dealer, Seymour Clearly installs Crystal Guard with Dow Corning 795 structural caulking to anchor the film to the window frame. Without proper frame attachment, security film cannot hold glass in place during impact. $60/pane for structural caulking.
10 Thickness Options
From 4 mil basic safety to 24 mil maximum security — Crystal Guard offers the right film for every application. Schools, government buildings, storefronts, and homes each have different threat profiles and budget requirements. We help you spec the right thickness.
